We make it our prerogative to fish out all the hidden gems in Kampala. Let’s face it, there’s still so much beauty to see in our city. This week, we bring you Khazana The Verandah, tucked away in Muyenga just before the quarry. The outside seems like just another restaurant in the city and you might even walk by it, but the inside, for me atleast is something out of a story book.
The restaurant is a sister company of Khana Khazana which has been open in Uganda for 19 (yes I know) 19 whole years! Khazana The Verandah opened at the end of 2013 and since then has a good flock of people that visit it to dine in it’s lovely setting. I get a Persian, Moroccan, Asian vibe from it, all the while still bringing beautiful woody and green elements of Africa. Every little detail is throught out to the T. Infact, it’s where we shot this article.
When it comes to the food. It’s ridiculously good, but I would say that, because I love Indian food and flavor and would pick Indian over Chinese or any other delicacies any day. The prices are no different from Kampala restaurants and you will probably part with UGX 25,000 – 40,000 (USD 8 – 15), money, that you will no doubt feel was well spent.
We had Chicken Tikka Masala with Rice and Butter naan. Yum yum yum. But I won’t speak much for Khazana. Go check it out yourself. Im sure you will have sooo much to say. For now, I’ll leave you with some pictures.
