Fun green dresses and fun backgrounds that draw your eye in. Something about this particular set of photos makes me feel the need to let you in on some of the stuff that has been happening with Angela and I. In these pictures, my hair is wild and so are my dreams.
I remember the day we took these pictures. Our appointment with Khazana the Veranda and Franco was at 11:00 am on the dot. It was a Saturday morning and it had been drizzling. I had a very early morning meeting, my alarm clock went off at 6:30 am and I didn’t hear it. Needless to say, I was rushing out of home, to my appointment which ended at 10:45am and I had to run to Muyenga which was on the opposite side of town.
I made it at 2 minutes past 11:00 am. Heart pounding, flustered and a little out of breath but I made it. See the thing is I’m a stickler for time. When I say I’m going to be somewhere at a certain time, I really do mean it. Angela got there ahead of me, and spoke to the management, as well as Franco and I run in to get dressed and get our first set of outfits on.
This little narrative gives you a small window into what my days are like. In fact, I get many “but how do you manage to run the blog?” “Where do you find the time?!” My response, “I make it.” And it’s not just me. Angela deals with a number of things, including running and managing her own pharmacy. This means we are both always running for our next thing. Trying to strike a balance between the craziness that is life and the blog. If we were not fully invested in doing this, then I don’t see a way we could possibly manage to juggle it all.
So although Angela and I are big dreamers, we don’t stop at dreaming. We put in the work. We hunker down and ball our fists and do everything we need to, to make it all work. That said, this is going to be one heck of a year for the both of us. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on with you.
“Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with hands shaking. Start with your voice trembling but start. Start and don’t stop. Start where you are, with what you have. Just…start.”- Ijeoma Umebinyuo
